Just when you thought it was time to hear some new music from Prince, his estate said ‘no’.
It had been reported that a new EP, titled Deliverance, was to be released with previously unreleased songs. Downloads would be available and a disc was going to be in stores June 2nd. An independent label was releasing the music, claiming that the music was recorded during a time Prince wasn’t on a major label, and that sales would ‘benefit Prince’s estate.’
Prince’s estate has stepped in and filed a lawsuit claiming the label has no rights to release the music. Deals were made by the estate with Universal Music Group which included Prince’s unreleased material.
