Nine people are dead, two of which are children, and one person remains missing after flood waters swept down the east Verde river at Cold Springs swimming hole in the Beaver Valley subdivision near Payson.

This swimming hole is also otherwise known as Water Wheel Falls.

According to a spokesperson for the Gila County Sheriff's Office, a total of 14 people were swept down the river when the flood waters arrived.
This happened Saturday afternoon at about 3:19 p.m.

These families had no way of knowing that a Flash Flood Warning had been issued. There is no cell phone or radio coverage.
