Dr. Heather Morgan has the first major research project on the impact of heels on the body. After she fell wearing high-heeled boots, she had a long road to recovery, which led to her interest in conducting the research. Now we know what heels, 2-4 inches, really do to you.
The simple answer: On one hand, heels are terrible. On the other, they’re beautiful.
They cause back pain, sprains, and even broken ankles.
Heels have also been credited as causing men to be more likely to smile at a woman, or to help her. Really. But going further, men used to wear heels as a symbol of power or wealth.
