Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preseason Preview VS Jacksonville Jaguars
PREGAME NO HUDDLE – JACKSONVILLE
By Leo Haggerty
In my opinion, here’s a few pertinent points to watch for tonight as the Bucs travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars in Week 2 of the exhibition season. When the starters are on the field, here’s what to look for:
- EVOLUTION OF THE OFFENSE – Look for Winston to get more of his weapons involved, especially in the passing game. Also, look for rookie TE O.J. Howard to see more snaps in the 2×2 alignment (two WRs and two TEs).
- DEFENSE STOUT AGAINST THE RUN – Jags rookie RB Leonard Fournette is a load. Stopping him will be a true test for DC Mike Smith and the Pewter Pirates starting defense.
- DEFENSE GET OFF THE FIELD ON THIRD DOWN – The defense needs to pressure much-maligned Jacksonville QB Blake Bortels especially on third down. Don’t let the former UCF star gain confidence. When the opportunity presents itself to get off the field, make it happen.
- IMPROVEMENT IN THE KICKING GAME – Time to find out if Nick Folk is the man, or should I say, the foot. Enough said on that.
Those are the points I think are salient to the Buccaneers improving as they get ready for an opening season date in Miami with the Dolphins. Let’s see whether I’m right or wrong.
