And people thought Oprah’s book club was the tops!

Back in 2013 as part of the traveling “David Bowie Is” art exhibit, David Bowie released a list of his top 100 favorite books of all time, ranging from The Portable Dorothy Parker to The Great Gatsby.

Cut to just before the New Year, and Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, posts to Twitter, “My dad was a beast of a reader.  One of his true loves was Peter Ackroyd’s sojourns into the history of Britain and its cities.  I’ve been feeling a building sense of duty to go on the same literary marathon in tribute to dad.  Time allowing…”

After a lot of positive feedback, and with the help of the late Bowie’s social media team, the Bowie Book Club is now a reality and will work through the aforementioned book list!

The official kickoff is in February, but Duncan is doing a pre-book club kick off in January with Ackroyd’s Hawksmoor.
