In case you’re planning on heading to downtown Tampa for the Gasparilla pirate invasion and parade, or the NHL All-Star events… or if you’re looking to avoid the crowds altogether, here’s a breakdown on what will be going on and which roads will be closed.
Road closures will begin Friday evening in preparation of the weekend’s events. Beginning tonight at 10 p.m., Bayshore Blvd. from Gandy to Platt, Bay-to-Bay from Bayshore to Ysabella St. and the Davis Islands off ramp onto northbound Bayshore will be closed. The invasion begins Saturday at 11 a.m. and will dock at the Tampa Convention Center at 1 p.m.
The parade of pirates begins at Bay to Bay Blvd. and Bayshore Blvd. at 2 p.m. and ends in downtown Tampa. Q105 at the Publix located at Platt & Bayshore for great viewing of the parade as it heads into downtown.
The NHL All-Star Game is also this weekend. The skills tournament will take place on Saturday, beginning at 7pm. The NHL recommends arriving VERY early. Parking may be difficult and crowds will be heavy.
