Rodrigo Koxa claimed the major prize at the Big Wave Awards in California after breaking the world record - surfing a 24.28m (8ft) swell.
He was awarded the Guinness World Record for "The Biggest Wave Ever Surfed" at the ceremony on Saturday night.
Mr. Koxa told reporters that breaking the record in November last year was "the best day of my life".
