Reviver Auto of Boston developed these new digital plates. Each plate retails for $699 and has a monthly service plan that cost $7.75. California switched over to digital and it actually saved the DMV $20M. The pilot program will debut later this year in Florida and yes you would have to pay for this optional upgrade. These plates also update Amber Alerts and Weather Warnings which some people think will just be another distraction on the roadway.
