I think most of us can agree that it would be nice for new moms to get more paid time off after having a baby. Well a trend has come about where co-workers are donating their vacation days to new moms. This is so wonderful and altruistic, but it’s turned into a heated debate on the internet. Some people argue that it’s not other people’s responsibility to “crowd source” maternity leave. Some argue that company’s should pay.
I feel like if you want to extend your maternity leave beyond what your company pays you for, it’s your responsibility, not your co-workers. It’s one of the many “costs” of having a child.
