The man portrayed by Robin Williams in the movie ‘Good Morning, Vietnam’, legendary former DJ Adrian Cronauer, has died at the age of 79.

Cronauer served as an Air Force sergeant and hosted the show “Dawn Buster” in Saigon from 1965-1966.

The portrayal by Robin Williams was a fictionalized account of Cronauer’s time in Vietnam. Much of the material in the movie might have resulted in a court mashal for the content.

Robin Williams was quoted as saying, “He did play rock ‘n’ roll, he did do characters to introduce standard Army announcements, and ‘Goooood morning, Vietnam’ really WAS his signature line.”

Adrian Cronauer was a true pioneer in radio, our thoughts are with his family and friends.
