Today Is International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Arrrr, do you know what today be? It's International Talk Like A Pirate Day, but do ye know how this day came to be?  It was started in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers of Albany, Oregon. The two were playing racquetball when one came up with an injury and screamed, "Arrrr!"  That game took place on June 6, but out of respect for the Normandy landings, the birthday of Summers' wife was chosen.  The holiday gained steam when they wrote a letter about their holiday to columnist Dave Barry in 2002 and the rest is history.  Do you celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day?
