An America’s Got Talent finalist has been arrested this week.
If you are a fan of the show you will certainly remember singer Michael Ketterer , who finished in fifth place. But according to People.com, what you will be completely surprised about is that he was arrested for a domestic violence charge against his wife.
Ketterer, a pediatric mental health nurse from Knoxville Tennessee, had a large family with both biological and adopted children too, some with disabilities and special needs. He seemed to win over everyone’s heart.
He was also a big favorite of Simon Cowell. Cowell is one of the show judges and also acts as an Executive Producer of the show. Simon was so impressed with Michael’s performance and back story, that he reached out to country music star Garth Brooks asking him to write a song for Michael should he make the final show.
Garth was kind enough to oblige and not only did he write a beautiful ballad for the finale, which Michael did perform in, but he went a big step further and invited him to sing it at Brooks upcoming Notre Dame Stadium concert. Ketterer was absolutely flabbergasted that the opportunity came to fruition. We all thought what a happy ending for the singer and father. Not so fast.
Shorthly after the big finale, he was arrested in Hollywood and charged with domestic violence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His bail was set at $50,000. Ketterer told the web site TMZ that he and his wife got into an argument at the hotel, where cops were called. While he says it was merely a “misunderstanding”, and his wife did not wish to press charges, she did have a red mark on her body, and authorities promptly arrested him.
Garth Brooks announced that he and Ketterer had discussed the incident and agreed that it was best that he withdraw from the sold out concert on October 20th. Garth is quoted as saying, “The family will figure it out and find it within themselves, and of course the good Lord, and figure it out.
Reps for AGT have had no comment. I am sorry to hear of this new development. I do wish Ketterer and his family all the best.
