Southwest Airlines is the latest airline to add free in-flight messaging for passengers.

The new free in-flight messaging hasn’t made it to all flights yet. If you’re on a flight that doesn’t have the free service you’re going to be charged $2 per day, per device.

Alaska Airlines, Delta, and United offer free messaging. It’s typically offered on flights with wifi, and some apps aren’t included.

Messaging while on a Southwest flight works with iMessage, What’sApp, and Viber, but not regular SMS messaging.
Do you think it’s fair to pay for wifi on flights?
