Are you driving an automobile that is a target of car thieves?

The latest Hot Wheels Report was recently released by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), which names the top ten most stolen cars of 2017.

The report shows that of all the vehicles in the nation, the Honda Civic was the most stolen automobile of 2017. A total of 45,062 Honda Civics were stolen last year, and coming in at a close second was the Honda Accord, with a total of 43,764 reported stolen.

Typically older models top this list being manufactured before many of the anti theft protection options were  installed. However, the list shows that even with today's anti theft options on newer cars, they are not immune to being targeted. Enhancements in vehicle security do have a positive impact, but owner complacency can undermine their success. Thousands of vehicles continue to be stolen each year because of things like keys or fobs being left in the vehicles, leaving their vehicle as an easy target.

Below is the list of most stolen vehicles from the National Hot Wheels report:

  1. Honda Civic - 45,062
  2. Hone Accord - 43,764
  3. Ford Pick-up (Full Size) - 35,105
  4. Chevrolet Pick-up (Full Size) - 30,058
  5. Toyota Camry - 17,278
  6. Nissan Altima - 13,358
  7. Toyota Corolla - 12,337
  8. Dodge Pick-up (Full Size) - 12,004
  9. GMC Pick-up (Full Size) - 10,865
  10. Chevrolet Impala - 9,487
