Three major universities are hoping students won’t lose their ID cards anymore as they roll out a digital version for their smartphones.

Alabama, Duke, and Oklahoma now offer a copy of student ID’s for the Apple Wallet so access can be granted on iPhones and Apple Watches.

This will allow students to get into buildings, pay for lunch and do all the things student ID’s were made for. The use of Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode on the phone makes it less likely for theft or misidentification.

Apple hopes to roll this technology out to additional universities by the end of the school year.
