3 Tampa Bay Residents Make Forbes Richest List
Forbes is out with its list of the “Richest Americans” and 3 live right here in the Tampa Bay area.
No, I am NOT one of the richest (far from it)… and it’s not John Cena either. Cena might be one of our most famous residents, but three billionaires make the list reported by TampaBay.com.
Edward DeBartolo Jr. of Tampa is the richest on the list. He’s a 71 year old guy worth almost $3 billion. His wealth was acquired from shopping center developments. He actually owned an NFL franchise, the San Francisco 49’ers at one point.
55 year old Todd Christopher of Clearwater made his $2.2 billion from hair care products. Forbes says his beginnings were quite humble. He actually slept in his first salon to save money.
The poorest of those mentioned on the list is the guy who started Ashley Furniture. St. Petersberg’s Ronald Wanek is worth about $2.1 billion (maybe we can start a GoFundMe for him).
So, I suppose I have some catching up to do. Maybe a weekend job at Checkers will fill in the gaps for me. 🙂
