Star Studded Tribute To The King (VIDEO)
NBC has produced a star studded tribute to The King of Rock & Roll.
The list of performers paying tribute to Elvis Presley for the 50th anniversary of Elvis’ Comeback Special is really impressive. The special was recorded last week but won’t air until next year on NBC.
From the pop world, Jennifer Lopez, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Adam Lambert and Shawn Mendes are all said to have performed. For country fans tuning in, look forward to seeing Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. They all performed songs by The King.
Gwen Stefani performed Suspicious Minds, according to one tweet. It’ll be interesting to see how the pop acts put their own spin the Elvis classics. Elvis’ influence seems to never end. There was even a kid on American Idol named Mackenzie Bourg who did a great, modernized version of Can’t Help Falling In Love With You a few years back. Such a cool rendition. The arrangement is very current, but it doesn’t ruin the vibe of the original song. It was really creative. You can watch the performance by Bourg below.
And for those of you who have never seen it, here is a classic clip from the original special back in 1968.
The special is hosted by Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’ only child and Riley Keough, his granddaughter.
This will truly be “Must See TV”!
