It's a wuestion I had last year and again now, Is it safe to eat stone crab with red tide?
Frenchy's 35th annual Stone Crab Festival is set for October 25-27. With the red tide we have experienced this year, many are asking, is it safe to eat the stone crab?
Florida Fish and Wildlife has confirmed that parts of certain shellfish are safe to consume. Crabs, Shrimp and Lobster are not effected by red tide and are safe to eat.
Eating the muscle and tissue of a crab are safe because you are not consuming any of the organs where the red tide would effect them.
