Okay, that headline might not be a surprise, florists have known this. Studies have found that flowers, especially free flowers, are instantly improve mood.

To demonstrate, roses were handed out to office workers in downtown Tampa.

Once recipients were told the flowers were free, moods were boosted. The effect was more prominent for women.
