U.S. Troops Drink Iceland Capital’s Entire Beer Supply in One Weekend

It’s true Americans love their beer but to drink an entire city’s stock of beer in four days is truly an American first.

After United States troops finished doing military exercises in Reykjavik for the NATO-led Trident Juncture 18, over 6,000 troops visited the Ölgerð Egils Skallagrímssonar brewery and according to Visir, an Icelandic magazine, emergency cases of beer had to be sent to the bar after the soldiers managed to drink the bar dry.

The soldiers came into the port on Wednesday and didn’t leave until Sunday. Local bar owners said they had never seen anything like it. Bar owners were able to restock after the soldiers left.
