Election Day isn't a national holiday. It looks as if the voting in this years mid-terms will far outpace the 2014 mid-terms. As of Saturday, according to the Associated Press, 30 million people had cast their votes in early voting.

It would take an act of Congress to make Election Day a national holiday. Bernie Sanders has proposed a bill titled Democracy Day that would turn Election Day into a holiday so more people could vote.
