As we honor the men and women who have served the United States in our armed forces on Veterans Day this Sunday, we want all veterans to be aware of these scams specifically targeting them:

1. Scammers offer “Secret” veteran benefits. Scammers tell veterans they qualify for “secret” government benefits that offer thousands of dollars. Scammers are just trying to collect personal info.
2. VA Loan Scams: Scammers are offering to refinance VA loans at very low rates.
3. Bogus Employment Scam: Scammers are posting fake job descriptions. Really they just want to collect personal information from the job application.

But I would bet there are far more positive things going on, especially in our bay area, with people doing things to help veterans. Sunday is the day we honor veterans, but let’s offer a helping hand all year long.
