Fire officials say plugging a space heater into a power strip or an extension cord can be a fire hazard. The reason? Power strips aren't designed to handle the energy output from a space heater, which can cause it to overheat and catch fire.
Instead, make sure to plug your space heater directly into the wall, and never leave it unattended.
