Pop quiz: Are you required to use a hands-free device when you talk on your cell phone while driving in Florida? You’d think, “absolutely yes” right? I would have bet big money that the answer is “yes”, but I’d have lost my money. I know it is a law in many states already but it’s not here in Florida. However, that may soon change.

A Florida House bill has been filed to introduce new laws next year. That would mean no texting. No holding your phone. But blue-tooth (hands free) would be fine.

Those that are tied to their cell night and day may not like this new law, but I think that it’s definitely a good one. It’s so dangerous to be distracted while out in traffic, and you could easily cause serious problems. Count me in the “Yeah” column on this one!
