The CDC is reminding you not to eat leftover raw cookie dough that you see sitting on the counter... no matter how good it may taste.
Getting right to the point, the CDC says that raw cookie dough has raw eggs that can potentially harbor salmonella. And anybody whose has salmonella poisoning can tell you how awful that can be.
E.coli could also be a risk factor when consuming that cookie dough that gets left on the counter.
