Sitting Is The New Smoking?
More scientific evidence indicates sitting really can be detrimental to your health.
Now let’s not exaggerate. We know smoking is much worse for you than sitting. But what can sitting on your behind all day do for your health? A study looked at nearly 8,000 people aged 45 and older and them wear activity monitors between 2009 and 2013. They found that replacing thirty minutes of sitting time with light physical activity such as walking could actually reduce the risk of early death by 17 percent. And if you make that 30 minutes moderate to vigorous physical exercise, you reduce the risk even further.
