A special needs student at Cherry Creek High School in Colorado, hit a buzzer-beating half-court shot last week.
The kids name is Andrew Regan. He belongs to the Unified basketball team at his school, a program pioneered by the Special Olympics to promote inclusion in sports. This unified team plays differently abled kids in a less competitive environment.
The video below shows the shot where Andrew Regan grabs a rebound and with only seconds remaining, dribbles the ball to half-court before gracefully launching the basketball into the far net and scores.
Andrew, who has been playing basketball since he was five-years-old, was coached by his father who died when Andrew was only 11. After the shot Andrew spoke with CBS Denver and was quoted as saying, “That was surreal, when I said surreal, it felt like amazing to me,”!
