Boy Scouts of America now BSA, Welcoming Girls of All Ages
As of today the Boy Scouts of America will be known as Scouts BSA and will give girls the opportunity to become an Eagle Scout.
“I was the kid who wanted to be a Boy Scout and my daughter kind of missed out on all of that and I wanted to give her an opportunity to do the things that I know she really likes,” said new scoutmaster Abby Riegner.
The girls’ troop will be similar to the boys’, but outings will be separate.
“We’re going to share events, share equipment,” said Riegner. “Then they have some established service projects and we’re going to kind of branch off and find out what the girls are interested in doing.”
The boys’ troop will not merge with the girls’ troop. This has been a top concern for people after the announcement was made.
