I'm not completely sure we need this new technology, however it is still very interesting.

Researchers at Texas A&M are working on a new A.I. program that monitors your voice, and can tell you when your spouse is in a BAD MOOD and ready to fight. And it works by simply listening to the pitch and tone of your voice, and how your vocal patterns change throughout the day.

So if you knew they were in a bad mood, you could address the issue early . . . or just start walking on eggshells to avoid an argument. So far, they've tested it on 34 different couples, and it can detect signs of conflict with 79% accuracy . . . which is probably better than what most can do.

Its not clear how soon it will be available or what the cost will be, but I'd suspect big numbers for this one. The catch is that your spouse does have to agree to it, sorry but no recording on them the sly.

But honestly, after being with my wife for nearly 20 years, I have to say that I won't have any need for this new technology. I'm quite certain that my own perceptions of her mannerisms and vocal tone tell me (with much greater accuracy than 79%) when she's out of sorts. And I learn fast! :-)
