A reporter from The Verge wrote an expose on life as a Facebook moderator. The stories are shocking. According to interviews with former workers, viewing all that questionable content has caused PTSD in some employees. In order to "manage" their stress, according to former employees, it was common practice for some to take breaks and smoke marijuana or partake in sexual activities in the office. Also, according to these former moderators, working conditions seemed pretty hostile.
