There’s no question that work can sometimes be extremely stressful which can lead to a negative impact on a person’s mental health.

“Investing in causes like mental health days can improve the well- being of the employee or start fighting the stigma regarding mental health, and in the bigger picture, might prevent absenteeism and loss of money for companies,” says Occupational Therapist Marna Acker.

For some, work can be a way to release stress, but that is not the case for everyone. For others it can cause mental burnout. “I am not sure if mental health days should be something that businesses look into, but there should be regular assessments done of staff with regard to their productivity,” said Labor Analyst Michael Bagraim.

What do you think of mental health days being lumped in with sick leave? How do you think this would impact productivity?
