In a lengthy Instagram post, May said he found the pre-Oscars media hype "deeply disturbing", saying "90% of it is aimed at discrediting one or other" instead of "discussing their merits and admiring the skills that went into making them".
May said he "held his tongue" before now because he didn't want "to influence the results of the ballots even by a hair".
Of course, one of that stopped Queen from cleaning up on Oscar night, winning four trophies for Bohemian Rhapsody and opening the show with a blistering performance with Adam Lambert.
