During an NCAA regional tournament, an Auburn University gymnast suffered a gruesome injury trying to land a tumbling pass. It would be her last of her career.

Luckily, injuries this serious with gymnasts are rare.

Samantha Cerio was airborne with a tumbling run that would end with a blind landing. She came down hard on her feet and fell to the mat.

If you don’t think knees aren’t supposed to turn that way, well, you’re correct. Sadly, she dislocated both knees and tore ligaments. The college senior was taken out on a stretcher with both legs in inflated casts.

She had to undergo surgery and has retired from gymnastics.

On a positive note, Cerio is set to graduate with a degree in aerospace engineering and has a job lined up with Boeing.

Do not watch if you are squeamish. The video is graphic.
