Budweiser Pledges to Change Name of Beer if Tampa Wins Stanley Cup
As if there wasn’t enough pressure on the Lightning already, now the Tampa Bay team has the name of a best-selling beer riding on a potential Stanley Cup victory.
Budweiser has pledged to change the name of Bud Light to “Bud Lightning” if the team goes all the way. The 16-ounce cans would be available in the Tampa Bay area for a limited time.
The idea came from the Tampa Bay Lightning, which on Wednesday posted a video of a Bud Light can making the transformation, writing, “Hey budlight, how about a name change for the playoffs?” It took just four minutes for the beer company to respond, tweeting, “Win it all and we’ll make BudLightning a reality.”
