The leader of the J. Geils Band, whose hits include “Centerfold”, “Freeze Frame” and “Love Stinks” was found dead in his home Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

J. Geils played guitar while Peter Wolf sang lead on their hits.

Born John Warren Geils Jr., he went from studying mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to forming a band. They released their debut album as the J.Geils Blues Band in 1970, and later dropped ‘blues’ from their name.

In 1981 they topped the chart with “Centerfold.”

J.Geils lived in Groton, Massachusetts, and a call was made to the local police for a welfare check. He was found unresponsive.

His music still lives on!
