Lakeland Offering $3,000 Reward For Missing Swan
WEYMOUTH, ENGLAND - MAY 04: First cygnets of the year hatch at Abbotsbury Swannery on May 04, 2019 near Weymouth, England. It is the only publically accessible colony of nesting mute swans in the world. The arrival of the cygnets is traditionally seen as the start of summer and local traditions claim the Benedictine Monks who owned the Dorset swannery between 1000 AD and the 1540s believed the first cygnet signaled the season's first day. Abbotsbury Swannery's mute swans - up to 1,000 in total - are all free flying, and are not kept in cages. (Photo by Finnbarr Webster/Getty Images)
The rare black neck swan stolen from it’s pen in Lakeland is still missing .
Officials have teamed up with Heartland Crime Stoppers to offer a $3,000 reward for the safe return of the baby swan. Officials believe the baby swan was stolen by a person not taken by a predator on May 15th because there was no evidence of a struggle or feathers or blood left behind. Swan caretakers say a baby that size 1.5 pounds is difficult to care for so they are urgently trying to locate the swan.
If you have any info on the baby swan call Heartland Crime Stoppers at (800) 226-8477
