Vital information for nearly 12 million people has been compromised in a security breach at one of the top medical labs in the U.S.
Quest Diagnostics, which has testing facilities all over the country, revealed Monday that hackers have accessed the financial, medical and personal information of 11.9 million customers. The files were breached through American Medical Collection Agency, a company that handles Quest's billing collections. Quest has stopped sending information to AMCA, a company rep said Monday.
According to AMCA, an unauthorized user had access to Quest's files from August 1st, 2018 until late last week. Those files included credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security numbers and more. However, files containing patients' lab results were not part of the breach, the company said.
If you've had lab work done at Quest, what's your next move going to be? Have you ever been the victim of identity theft?
