Attention Picky Eaters!
When I read a story on Today.com about a waitress in New York City that posted a photo of a very long burger order going viral, it sounded very familiar to me. And not because it sounded like a typical order for me. On the contrary, I love food and everything that goes with it. Pile it on! But this order is straight out of my life with my wife, Christine.

Christine tends to be quite particular about food, what she eats and how she eats it. There are many, many things she does not like, so she always orders everything with very specific instructions. And everything is ALWAYS asked to be left off entirely or placed…”on the side“.
Now it seems that Christine is not alone. Anna Silman posted a photo of an order placed at The Cut, in New York City, that asked for a beef burger with these very specific instructions:
“No cheese, no side salad, no salt, no oil, no seasoning, no pepper, no toppings, no garnishes, no bacon, no pickles, no onion, no bread, no lettuce.”
The the customer also requested that the burger be “absolutely plain” then further down on the ticket the request was for a “plain patty” for her dog. Christine would order just like this, and also order for our Pug, Gunner too!
As frustrating as this may sounds, I can honestly say that Christine doesn’t mean to be fussy or difficult. She just likes what she likes. She sweetly orders, tries to be patient an often times apologizes for being particular. And of course…. her orders rarely comes out correct. I’ve come to expect that.
As for me, I know to wait until she’s done and it’s all written down before I place my order. My simple, off the menu order. No changes or substitutions. I figure the poor waiter has enough to worry about without my adding more to it.
Do you know anyone like this? Or maybe it’s you that’s the “particular” one. If so, there is one big suggestion I have for you.. leave a big tip! Especially if you plan on returning. 😉
