It sounds like one of those goofy calls they would get when Live PD cameras were rolling in Pasco County, but the situation quickly turned serious late last night in New Port Richey.

Bay News 9 reports Pasco County Sheriff's Office Deputy Christopher Stone was shot while responding to a call on Humboldt Avenue in New Port Richey just after midnight. They say 62 year old Terrance Peterson got into a fight with his wife... and her Alexa device. At some point they say he SHOT at the Alexa. Their daughter called for help. When deputies arrived, several shots were fired, one hitting Stone in the leg. It hit an artery and fortunately they got a tourniquet on him and Stone was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital. The good news is they expect him to be ok.

Peterson was in the house for hours before they got him in custody. Other homes nearby were evacuated and they used tear gas to get Peterson out. Sheriff Chris Nocco said "Make no mistake about it. The suspect tried to kill everybody that was outside the house, all those deputies." Peterson faces domestic battery and attempted homicide charges.
