I am a HUGE animal. Pets are our best friends and our Pug, Gunner is a huge part of our lives.

Pets give us so much and ask for so little. But sadly, not all pets are as fortunate as our Gunner-Boy (or your pet at home). Most shelters struggle to even keep their animals properly fed. And shelter pets rarely feel the love that our pets do. This story is about one Safety Harbor man trying to make a difference in the lives of those sad shelter pets.

Kris Rotonda, is truly a modern-day hero for all shelter animals and goes the extra distance to make sure shelter dogs in the U.S. do not go hungry. Kris started Jordan's Way Charity to assist in helping to feed animals in shelters all across the U.S.

In Kris' latest venture, he has partnered with 13 Pet Supermarket locations in effort to “fill the truck” with dog and cat food to be distributed to shelters nationwide.

Kris' charity drive to feed shelter pets runs through June 23rd at the Pet Supermarket locations throughout the Safety Harbor and Clearwater area. The food donations will benefit different shelters every month.

Two Florida rescues that will benefit from this food drive are Humane Society of Marion County and the St. Francis Society Animal Rescue.

Hopefully we can all make a point to stop by one of the 13 Pet Supermarket locations and help Kris by donating to a needy pet. It's a small thing to do.

However, if you can't make it to any of the donations spots, but still want to help, you can go to Jordans Way Charities, or to their Facebook page.
