The 24-karat gold piano once played by Elvis, has found a new home at the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa. The piano is gorgeous and will stay on display in the brand new atrium at the Hard Rock surrounded on both sides by two new grand escalators.
If you have not been to the Seminole Hard Rock recently, you'll be amazed by the $700M expansion, which brings more rooms, more bars, more games and yes, more fun! I got lost a couple of times trying to find my way around.
James Burton who played guitar for Elvis Presley was at the unveiling party Thursday night and he said the Hard Rock is a fitting home for this piece of Rock and Roll History. The piano was originally bought for Elvis's Mother in 1955, but was placed in storage when she passed away in 1958. It was Priscilla Presley who took the piano out of storage and had it covered in 24-karat gold leaf to surprise Elvis for a Christmas present. If you have been to Graceland, the answer is yes, this is the grand piano that has been on display in the music room at Elvis's mansion, but now it lives at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
