We all know by now that texting while driving is against the law here in Florida. In fact, many states have enacted the same laws.
However, according to TMN.com, in the state of Ohio (where the attached video was shot) if a driver is over the age of 18, texting is considered a secondary offense. That means an officer can not pull a driver over based on texting alone... some other, more serious infraction must be committed.

With the statistics regarding the number of accidents caused by texting in driving this could be worrisome. The National Safety Council states that "texting and driving is a factor in 1 out of 4 car accidents and that cell phone use was the cause of 1.5 million car crashes in the U.S. in 2018. Additionally, 390,000 injuries are because of accidents due to texting while driving".
