Study: 180 Florida Beaches Tested Positive For Poop
It’s becoming more and more clear that the Florida Beaches we love to hang out on are not the same clean beaches they used to be. This year brought Red Tide and Flesh Eating Bacteria and now this, a new study showing 180 Florida beaches showing some indicator of fecal bacteria.
A new report released Tuesday from the Environment America Research and Policy Center shows that of the 2,620 beaches across America, more than half were unsafe for swimming for at least one day in 2018.
What’s making our beaches unsafe is urban runoff, sewage overflow and failing septic systems. Red tide, smelly brown seaweed, green algae also cause fish kill and unsafe swimming conditions There is even a new study to check if red tide effects the health of those that live near the Gulf.
