Here’s Why You Should Always Check The Hotel Coffee Machine Before You Use It

While using the coffee machine provided in your hotel room might be a frugal way to avoid shelling out for an overpriced cup of Joe at the restaurant downstairs, one traveler’s story may cause you to reconsider.
Henry River was about to start brewing Java when he made a disgusting discovery. The water tank was completely filled with mold. “And this is why you check the hotel coffeemaker before you use it …” River wrote on Reddit, sharing a photo of what one comment called “a petri dish!”
A hotel expert told UK’s The Sun that guests should always check the coffee maker as it’s a “haven for bacteria, rust and mold”. Finding it dirty could indicate other housekeeping cleanliness issues.
