Happy National Tell A Joke Day. This one has been cracking me up lately. “Abracadabra” was one of my favorite songs as a kid. I remember rollerskating to it as a kid in junior high school. It’s just a fun pop song. But those who grew up with “The Joker” and the band’s more lyrically-serious songs weren’t as much of a fan. Watch comedian Jim Gaffigan discuss the big 80s Q105 hit with Jerry Seinfeld.

Likely Set List For Steve Miller Band's Sold Out Tampa Concert

  • Stranger Blues

Steve kicks off the show celebrating his roots in blues. He worked with blues legends like Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy in Chicago back in the 60s.

  • Fly Like An Eagle

The band’s iconic hit that got to #2 in 1976.

  • The Stake

A deeper cut from Book of Dreams in 1977.

  • Abracadabra

Definitely the most polarizing song among the fan base.  Pop music fans love it.  Others… not so much.  Comedian Jim Gaffigan cracked me up with his take.

  • Living in the U.S.A.

One of the first songs that put the Steve Miller Band on the map in 1968.

  • Space Cowboy

Another 60s gem from “Brave New World.”

  • Serenade

This one got remastered 5 years ago for “Ultimate Hits.”

  • Wild Mountain Honey

YouTube user nailed it when he said about this song, “The words mean less then the music and the moment when you heard it.”

  • Dance, Dance, Dance

If you keep on dancin’ you’ll never grow old.  At 78, Steve’s proving this one right.

  • Swingtown

This would be the last hit from “Book Of Dreams” in 1977. It was featured decades later on The Sopranos and was said to inspire Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train.”

  • Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma

Another one you’ll find remastered on Ultimate Hits.

  • Jungle Love

This one was originally written for Dave Mason. But Miller liked it and they knocked the song out in 30 minutes.

  • Take The Money and Run

Is there any more appropriate song to rock out at at the casino?

  • Rock'n Me

    The band’s second #1 hit.

  • The Joker

No, he didn’t forget.  Expect this one for the encore.
