Zoo Tampa is preparing to make your holidays wild this year! The zoo will be hosting 2 events for both locals and tourist.

The first scheduled event is for Halloween called, “Creatures of the Night. This event will be held on Fridays and Saturdays in October, from 4pm to 10pm. For “Creatures”, the zoo will have all kinds of animal encounters as well as haunted houses and special food.

Melina Mendolusky, Animal Care Manager of the Animal Ambassador Program says they will, of course, be making the animals the focus during this Halloween event.

She says, “Well for Halloween, of course we’re going to bring out a lot of the creepy crawlies, things that go bump in the night, and we love to do that to talk about the conservation efforts that we have put forth for all of these different species,”

The zoo invites children under the age 11 to wear costumes.  However, adults and children ages 12 and up may not wear wigs, masks, face paint or any kind of costumes. And no toy weapons of any kind will be allowed.

Zoo Tampa will be hosting second event for Christmas, and that will be called, “Christmas in the Wild”. The Christmas event will begin on November’s Black Friday, and run through select dates in December. When discussing the Christmas event, Melina had this to say…

“So we have thousands and thousands of twinkling lights. You can come and see a 50 foot tall Christmas tree. It really gets you in the spirit of the holidays.”

Both events sound like a fun time for all. Zoo Tampa is located in Lowry Park and is open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. You don’t have to wait for the events to enjoy a good time at the zoo! For ticket information click HERE:
