Naimoli's effort to have baseball in the Tampa area succeeded in forming the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, whose first season began in 1998.
He had been diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a brain disorder and had been in assistant living recently.
Vince Naimoli died after a long illness.
