Vince Naimoli, Tampa Bay Rays Owner, Dead At 81

Vince Naimoli, who led the way to bring Major League Baseball to St. Petersburg, died Sunday at the age of 81.
Naimoli’s effort to have baseball in the Tampa area succeeded in forming the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, whose first season began in 1998.
He had been diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a brain disorder and had been in assistant living recently.
Vince Naimoli died after a long illness.
