Scam artists are ready to take advantage of the situation and rip off generous souls. So how can you watch out for phony charities?
You can visit a Florida website called "Check-A-Charity." This site will help you confirm whether a charity is reputable. And if you receive an email asking for money, remember non-profits are required by law to provide their registration number. If that registration number is missing, that’s a red flag. And it might be better to NOT respond to a random email. Instead, go directly to the organization's website to donate.
