The United States Coast Guard has been receiving communications on a marine band radio frequency, threatening a nuclear attack on Florida’s Gulf coast.

According to WFLA News Channel 8, “The St. Petersburg command center received the latest threat via VHF channel 22A on Aug. 13.19”.

Authorities report that a male voice is threatening Coast Guard personnel, aircraft and vessels. Some of the radio broadcasts start with “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday” and then talks about, “scrambling all jets, we are under nuclear attack.”

Everyone is hoping that this is in fact a hoax… and that this person is no threat. But that has not been determined yet. The USCG is asking that if anyone has information about this to please call the Coast Guard Investigative Service, St. Petersburg at 727- 535-1437 extension 2308.
