Robert Benac, 30 was in court on Thursday to accept a plea deal for animal cruelty against a shark. Benac’s attorney argued that dragging the shark did not matter because it was already dead. Benac took the plea deal and will now be charged with a misdemeanor animal cruelty. He has 11 months on probation and must serve 10 days in jail on the weekends, starting this weekend. He must also get psychiatric help if needed and serve 250 hours of community service, 125 of those hours in an animal shelter. He will also pay a $2,500 fine and lose his fishing license for three years.
